Hey. I'm trying to design class skills for a future mud, and while the help files are nice, they don't give me the most complete information about some of the skills. If it's not a bother, I would appreciate some illumination on exactly what many of these skills do.

Presently, I would really like to know the difference between track, minor track and major track. I'm a tad familiar with the first one, but what does minor track mean by enhancing your ability to track? Is it a skill boost, does it increase range, or something else? And how is major track superior to it? Do they stack or overlap?

What codebase are you asking about specifically?

I was really hoping it wouldn't matter. I don't have one in mind yet, since I'm not personally versed in the code for muds.

Without knowing where you got the concepts of "major track" and "minor track" from, we have no way to even guess how they're different.

There are literally hundreds of publicly available codebases, and many of them use the same names to mean very different things. I've never heard of the skills you're talking about, as my codebase just has "track", and that's it.

I can imagine the "minor" version having a smaller range limit, or the "major" version being able to track across water, or through doors, but have no idea what YOUR versions do. :)

Is there a way to find out about the ones referred to in the help files on this site?

The helpfiles linked here are for the AFKMud codebase.

Both spells improve the range of your tracking ability.

Oh, awesome. I think I'll just assume that all of my questions will be based on the AFKMud base, then.

Do they stack, and by what type of figures do they improve the range?
