Was digging through old backups and came across the MUD. Thought I'd poke around a bit, compiled and started first try. Log in and "You were gone for 18 years 74 days 4 hours 20 minutes 27 seconds." Talk about nostalgia...

Heh, good to see you around, even if just to say hi
That'd be quite the message to see. Hard to believe it's been over 20 years now.

I recently started playing a couple MUDs. The same mud, still going. Once was called "1999's Eternal Darkness", Now 2019's Eternal Darkness. They've been alive the whole time. I'm not doing this for the nostalgia though. I have some plans for a new kind of game and am gathering ideas.

Thats an amazing message to see! I haven't played other muds going on 22 years now, unfortunately they are all shutdown. Back that many years, there wasn't much competition against Muds and they were thriving.
I am going to keep my own personal copy and work on it in my PC hopefully forever. Isn't it amazing how small a Mud and its filesystem is, yet how much entertainment and joy it can bring..
