Version 1.64 of AFKMud has been released.

This is a bugfix/feature enhancement release.
A patch file is attached to this post, and will only be available via this post.
You must use g++ to compile this release.

This will likely also be the last of the 1.6 line. We are beginning a move toward
changing over to C++ coding and frequent patches during this would prove destabalizing.
Any critical updates needed will most likely be issued in the form of forum updates.

To apply: place the patch file in your afkmud directory and use the following:
patch -p1 < 164patch

This patch is intended for use on the original 1.63 package which was released on or about
6/26/04. If you have already applied any of the bugfixes in the forum post for 1.63 fixes
then the patch will likely fail. Proceed at your own risk.

Standard disclaimer type stuff: Changes in this version may or may not remain compatible with your
older support files, such as areas, commands, skills, socials, etc. If things break, you were warned.

Bugfixes this release:

Dual wielding while already wielding a missile weapon crashes the game. [Samson]
wipe_resets would only work properly once on an area, then it would crash. [Samson]
check_bans never initializes the new_host variable. [Samson]
pcrename command incorrectly checks the user's area instead of the target's. [Samson]
Defensive shield spells are delivering excessive damage to the attacker. [Samson]
Mobs and objects not created with specific areas assigned will crash the mud. [Samson]
Overland data saved in invalid bitmap format. [Samson]
fix_char causes problems when reequipping the same item in different wear locations. [Samson]
Any item is allowed to be used in a socketed item slot. [Samson]
showliquid command crashes on NULL entries. [Samson]
showliquid command improperly exits if the first table entry is NULL. [Samson]
save_liquids command corrupts the liquids.dat file with NULL entries. [Samson]
setliquid command improperly deletes entries when specified by name instead of vnum. [Samson]
Pfiles are being saved with the wrong version number. [Samson]
Wizlock is blocking immortals from logging on when it shouldn't. [Samson]
Crash bug when killing mobs of level 0. [Samson]

Non-Bugfix alterations:

Random treasure code can now be setup on a per-area basis. [Samson]
Color settings can now be applied via themes in addition to the usual. [Samson]
IMC2 code updated to the Freedom client release. [Samson]
Hotboot support for IMC2 added. [Samson]
-Wstrict-prototypes removed from Makefile. [Samson]
Support for old crypt() function is now disabled by default. [Samson]

And yes, before someone mentions it, I know there wasn't a plan to get another release out, but there's been quite a bit of time between the last one and this one and the separation between versions was blurring too much for comfort. The conversion to C++ is taking quite a bit longer than originaly thought due mainly to a lack of sufficient time to really dig into it.
