i've never been a builder on an swr mud before but i'm currently playing around with an swr fote code and would like to add more prototype ships as well as some mob ships. i know how to do the building of rooms etc and how to set ships basically but i'm not sure what the average values of some of these things should be. what would be a good speed for each type of ship, how many lasers is too many for a starfighter etc. if anybody knows of an online source where i can find some basic guidelines for values as well as a basic guide to how to make prototype ships then i could really use the help. i don't plan on ever putting any of this work online but i might want to be a builder for an already existing swrfote in the future and this tinkering will be a huge help. thanks in advance for any and all help i can get.

You're not likely to find an online set of guidelines for ship settings for one main reason. Those are generally set by each mud admin. So my recommendation would be to look at each of the other prototypes and set your values accordingly. As for making them into prototypes, I'm not sure, I've only done mild tinkering with the SWFotE base and that's generally been more on the code side then the in game side.

As far as I know the values are somewhat arbitrary, but once implemented became relative. For example a T-Wing would have less hull than an SSD...ect. I suggest determining the type of ship you want to make such as a Capital Ship, Starfighter, or mid-range...then open one of the prototype files that has the same type to get a basis. Also, just so you know on my FotE based mud, quite some time ago I added in the ability to make and setup prototypes completly online. So it may be relative to which FotE based mud you are playing as far as how things are done.

Hope this helps, at least a little.
